Rector's Ramblings
The Rector's Ramblings

Dear Friends,

The PCC is always trying to improve the content and impact of our services and so, after long discussion, we have decided that baptism services will be held on alternate months on the fourth Sunday at 11:00 am. This means that it will alternate (provided there are baptisms to be done) with Morning Prayer. The first of these services will be on the 24th February. This change enables the family service on the second Sunday to be consistently the same service and, as you may have noticed over the recent months, we have been trying to involve more people in different and helpful ways to encourage and deepen our worship. It will help too as we plan the sermon series which we are starting after Easter

  • "What on Earth is the Church for?!"
  • "Kingdom Living"

It should also mean that baptism families have a wider selection of services to attend in preparation for their child's baptism as we are hoping to ensure that baptism is taken seriously by us, as well as by the baptism families. This will also give time to befriend those who come for baptism prior to the actual service. We hope that the new arrangement will encourage this and enable all of us to share in the discipleship journey. Baptism is central to our walk as Christian disciples but it is not a stand alone event. We hope to encourage this attitude in our baptism preparation, friendship and worship. We hope you continue to enjoy our services.

Peace and Grace
Marc
